Follow Us Environmental care With the growing evidence of mans contribution to global warming, one major concern on the minds of most Australians is the conservation of our precious waterways and our ability to manage this resource in the coming decades. Our governments are implementing new policies to decrease our water consumption and to reduce the amount of waste we dispose into our waterways.
Using less water has many benefits to the environment. This includes reduced energy use, less greenhouse gas emissions and an increase in the amount of water left in the environment. If we can reduce water consumption now, we can also save money in the long term. While water is relatively cheap today, the cost of water will rise in the future because our existing sources of water (such as dams, rivers and ground water) will have been depleted. As our population continues to grow there will be greater competition for water and we will have to explore and develop more expensive options for new supplies. When flushed, tampons, sanitary pads and toilet paper absorb up to 27 times their own weight in water. Now, we're definitely not saying that you shouldn't flush your essential toilet paper, but we do need to be more conscious of what is flushed. By using PocoPouch disposable pouches, you can help minimise the impact on our waterways and help preserve our water supply. Instead of flushing for your pads, napkins, tampons and other feminine hygiene items, remember to use a PocoPouch. Ultimately, you will be saving between 4 and 11 litres of water every time you flush (4 litres for every half or 11 litres every full flush).
Our PocoPouches are made up of a very thin layer of paper and aluminium foil. The foil component of the PocoPouch is non-toxic. Aluminium adds no poisonous compounds to the soil or ground water. Left to the effects of natural decomposition, the alloy will very gradually oxidise over a period of years returning to aluminium oxide without the emission of gas or pollutants. Eventually, it returns to nature. Alternatively, PocoPouches are designed to be completely incinerated. Paperless officePocoPouch operates as a paperless office. We have developed an electronic filing system in accordance with ATO Taxation Ruling TR2007/9 and have chosen not to use facsimile due to the amount of waste it produces. We only use a printer for shipping and postage labels. Wherever possible, all communication with customers, suppliers and freight companies, both incoming and outgoing, is via telephone, email and our website – www.pocopouch.com.au. PocoPouch has taken a positive approach to help preserve our natural resources and environment by committing ourselves to minimize the environmental impact, creation of waste and wherever possible recycle materials. Waste that cannot be eliminated, reduced, reused, recycled or composted, will be disposed through safe and responsible methods.
